The opioid epidemic continues to evolve, and with it comes the responsibility for treatment providers to stay informed, connected, and engaged with the latest research, regulatory updates, and best practices. This week, Morse Clinics was honored to attend the NC State Opioid Treatment Authority (SOTA) Annual Joint Meeting with the North Carolina Medication‑Assisted Treatment Providers Organization (NMCATOD) a gathering that brings together leaders from across the state who are dedicated to improving opioid treatment and recovery outcomes.

A Statewide Commitment to Evidence‑Based Care

The annual meeting serves as one of North Carolina’s most important forums for collaboration among opioid treatment programs (OTPs). State officials, clinicians, administrators, and advocates come together to discuss emerging trends, regulatory changes, and opportunities to strengthen patient care.

This year’s discussions focused on several key areas shaping the future of treatment in North Carolina:

  • Expanding access to medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) in both rural and urban communities

  • Supporting and retaining the OTP workforce, including counselors, nurses, and administrative staff

  • Improving care coordination across healthcare, behavioral health, and social service systems

  • Reducing stigma and promoting person‑centered, recovery‑focused approaches

  • Enhancing compliance and quality standards to ensure safe, effective treatment statewide

These conversations reflect the shared commitment across North Carolina to ensure that individuals and families affected by opioid use disorder receive compassionate, evidence‑based care.

Our Role in Strengthening Recovery Across North Carolina

As a network of opioid treatment programs serving communities across the state, Morse Clinics is deeply invested in the work discussed at this meeting. Our teams understand that recovery is not a one‑size‑fits‑all journey. It requires:

  • Accessible treatment

  • Respectful, trauma‑informed care

  • Strong clinical standards

  • Community partnerships

  • A workforce supported with ongoing training and resources

Participating in the SOTA/NCATOD meeting allows us to stay aligned with statewide priorities, learn from fellow providers, and bring back insights that directly benefit our patients and staff.

Looking Ahead

The challenges surrounding opioid use disorder continue to evolve, but so does the dedication of the professionals working to address them. Morse Clinics remains committed to being part of the solution, advocating for accessible treatment, supporting our staff, and delivering care that helps individuals rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

We are grateful to the NC State Opioid Treatment Authority and NMCATOD for hosting this year’s meeting and for fostering collaboration across the state. Together, we are building a stronger, more responsive system of care for North Carolina.
