Sublocade or Brixadi Treatment: A Monthly Buprenorphine Injection

Sublocade or Brixadi is an FDA-approved buprenorphine injection designed to treat opioid use disorder. Administered once every four weeks, this medication is recommended for patients who have successfully tolerated sublingual buprenorphine. Sublocade or Brixadi is delivered subcutaneously (under the skin) by a licensed nurse.

To begin Sublocade or Brixadi treatment, patients must schedule an appointment with a medical provider. As this is a new service for our clinic, additional time may be needed to order and reorder the medication through an approved specialty pharmacy. 

Requirements for Treatment

  • Complete toxicology screenings as required.

    Participate in counseling sessions at the Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) to ensure a comprehensive approach to recovery.

Cost and Insurance Information

  • Medicaid or Medicare Clients: If you are covered by Medicaid or Medicare plans that we contract with, your Sublocade treatment may be available at no cost.

  • Other Insurance or No Insurance: If you have other insurance or are uninsured, the cost is $250 per month, plus the cost of the medication (approximately $1,785) or your copay, which may vary depending on your insurance coverage at your chosen pharmacy. Payment of the $250 clinic fee is required in advance.

Flexibility in Treatment Options

We understand that recovery journeys are unique to each individual. If Sublocade or Brixadi is not the right fit or your needs evolve, you can seamlessly transition to other options like methadone or sublingual buprenorphine through our OTP. A consultation with one of our medical providers will be required to ensure your treatment plan is adjusted to best suit your recovery needs.
